Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic medicine is deeply connected to the wisdom of nature while remaining aligned with contemporary scientific care standards. Practitioners of naturopathic medicine undergo intensive doctoral-level medical training within seven accredited institutions across North America. Naturopathic Doctors employ evidence-guided therapies, prioritizing personalized, holistic strategies to strengthen the body's intrinsic healing capacity and uncovering the root sources of illness.
The Six Naturopathic Principles
1. First, Do No Harm (Primum non nocere): Choosing the least invasive and least toxic therapies, referring to an appropriate provider when a patient’s presentation is outside of scope.

2. The Healing Power of Nature (Vis medicatrix naturae): Creating a healthy environment as the foundation to human health by utilizing substances that originate in nature to support the body’s innate wisdom to heal itself.

3. Identify and Treat the Causes (Tolle causam): Identifying, addressing, and removing the underlying cause of illness.
4. Doctor as Teacher (Docere): Supporting and empowering patients in their health management through education.

5. Treat the Whole Person (Tolle totum): Treating the patient, not the disease, by identifying the interconnectedness of our body to our environment and lifestyle as an integrated whole of total health.

6. Prevention (Praevenic): Focusing on overall wellness and disease prevention utilizing these six principles to identify potential areas of imbalance to educate patients on how to get and stay well.
7 Tenants of Naturopathy
The Therapeutic Order establishes a structured framework guiding the clinical choices of naturopathic doctors. This sequence begins with the application of least invasive treatments, designed to strengthen the body, and ends with more intrusive interventions, encompassing pharmaceutical treatments and surgical procedures.
